Favorite Christmas Songs – Santa Claus is Coming to Town

By Matt | December 22, 2009

Definitely, one of my favorite Christmas songs is Santa Claus is coming to town!! This song was written by J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie and was 1st sung on a radio show in November, 1934. It was an instant hit…

And the thing I liked best about this Christmas song was it tells the children they have a choice and if they are good, they get presents from Santa.

One of the most delicious version of this song was sung by Mariah Carey and so I thought I would give my readers a treat by posting a youtube video of her singing this classic Christmas hit, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town. Read the rest of this entry »

He was one of the biggest musical personalities of his times and even today… it is just too darn bad that he died so young at the age of 46.

But I would like you to enjoy one of his classic songs before the holidays, The Christmas song… you can also check out the lyrics below… Read the rest of this entry »

Favorite Christmas Songs – I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas

By Matt | December 19, 2009

One of the most popular Christmas songs was written by Irv Berlin and was prominently featured in the movie by the same name in 1954. And that movie had Bing Crosby crooning this song in a way that only he could do it.

I’m dreaming of a White Christmas takes place in a Vermont ski lodge. And if you haven’t watch it ever, and you like fun, romance and hope… then you need to watch this movie.  The TV shows this movie every year so be sure to tape it for later viewing. Read the rest of this entry »

Favorite Christmas Songs – Frosty the Snowman

By Matt | December 17, 2009

OK!

Today we are gonna talk about Frosty the Snowman! To start off with, this song had a very humble beginning. The guys who wrote the original song noticed the success that Gene Autry had with the  “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” song and story.

So they decided upon creating another warm and fuzzy character… a snowman that was friendly, lovable and alive. And BOOM! Frosty the Snowman appeared. And in 1969, this story was turned into the famous TV special that has been entertaining and delighting children and adults of all ages. Read the rest of this entry »

One of my most favorite holiday movies is the stop motion animated Christmas television special called, the Little Drummer Boy. This TV special was created in 1968… a life time ago but still a great Christmas movie with a great message.

And of course this TV special was based on one of the favorite Christmas songs of all times…

Here is the lyrics to the song, Little Drummer Boy:

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum

Fake Christmas Trees Vs Real Christmas Trees Part 3

By Matt | December 16, 2009

I’m going to continue talking about the pros and cons of fake Christmas tress versus the real Christmas trees. It is a serious enough topic to warrant three blog parts… right?  :)

So whatever! Let’s continue…

For real trees, it can be easier to decorate because the branches are thinner and easier to move than the shorter and thicker brances of the artificial holiday trees.

And besides, for some folks, it is way easier to take down the real Christmas tree and drag them out of the house. The trick of course is to recognize the fact the holiday season is over after December and take the tree down and out to the curb. You can call the local Boy Scouts or even your City to haul them away for a recycling fee. It is green and makes you feel good. Read the rest of this entry »

Fake Christmas Trees Vs Real Christmas Trees Part 2

By Matt | December 13, 2009

One thing that I really like about the fake Christmas trees is the fact that you are not dragging in the bugs and other pests in the house. These buys could attack your house plants next.

And some of you might be allergic to the real Christmas trees or someone in your family does. It is something to keep in mind because this is where having an artificial Holiday tree might be practical. Read the rest of this entry »

Fake Christmas Trees Vs Real Christmas Trees Part 1

By Matt | December 12, 2009

One of the biggest debates during the holiday seasons could be whether fake Christmas trees or real Christmas trees are the best.

And why not? There are pluses and minuses for both kinds of trees.

So start off, the artificial Xmas trees don’t dry off and you don’t have to worry about cleaning up the messy needles off the carpet. And another thing about the real Christmas trees… pets like ‘em. They like to nip and spit out the needles all over the family room. (sigh) Read the rest of this entry »

By Matt | December 11, 2009

Some of the things that you can find at the retail stores that would be perfect for outdoor animated Christmas decorations is groups of large teddy bears! However, one of the fastest selling animated decorations for the yard remains those very large snow globes. They are filled with various scenes such as multi colored presents and animated figures spinning and dancing in circles. Some of these snow globes have Disney characters that are standing below the falling snow. Read the rest of this entry »

Outdoor Animated Christmas Decorations Part 1

By Matt | December 9, 2009

Beloved Holiday Characters that You Can Weave Into Your Décor Part 4

By Matt | December 8, 2009

Of course I can’t leave out my most favorite of all holiday characters… Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!

I loved that TV movie as a kid decades ago and I still can’t get enough of him today… My understanding was this character came to life back in 1939. Just wow!

And this extremely popular story was written by an employee of Montgomery Wards. And you shouldn’t have any problems finding Rudolph ornaments, statutes or images to place around your house. Read the rest of this entry »
